you could have layers cut into your hair it will take alot of weight out of long hair and is alot easier to manage

One of the things you can do in addition to getting it cut to a shorter length (i.e. several inches past your shoulders) is to have your stylist thin it out. Your stylist will cut layers in between your hair so that it's not visible. This helps with the weight of your hair and since you have less hair, your hair will dry much quicker too!

I have long, straight hair and would never get it cut (well not yet anyway, might change my mind later on). Mine is just past my hips.

Try having it layered done by a razor to make a real jagged sharp cut. It looks good on thick straight hair. Ask your stylist first but am sure he/she will agree with me. Good Luck!!

dont cut the lenght just get long layers put through it. this will make it lighter and more versatile. it will give your hair some shape instead of looking like curtains

FIRST: ask your stylist if he\she uses thinning shears. If they do ask if they will thin the interior of you hair be sure to stay off the scalp. This will cut out your blowdry and styling time too!

If you don't want to lose too much length, get it layered or feathered round the sides and get a fringe cut to give it some shape and movement.

This is a commonly asked question in the beauty salon. I recommend that you find a stylist that you trust, meaning one that does good work on your friends. Remember, because a salon has a big name and big price tag does not mean they are any good. You will probably have to pay a consulting fee but many don't charge anything on the anticipation that you will become a regular client. Tell them what you would like, they will very likely help you with a style that could help you and recommend a product that will help hold your quaff in place.

A girl I know had thick hair down to her bum, she put it in a long plait, and put the bobble in it quite early, so there was quite a long section of loose hair at the bottom if you know what I mean. If you tousle your hair at the roots first it makes it more voluminous. It looked really good. Try it before you cut it.

Yea my hair was like that really long and had no style to it, and i had it cut yesterday to just past my should it feels so much lighter and looks so much better. I had layers and had it feathered round the front. You can still keep it quite long, but have layer and have it feathered to make it feel lighter. Find a good hairdresser though.

Brush it than take a small sweeping above each ear and secure on top. Tuck the resulting pony tail through so it lies close to the head.
Once you learn to get it right you can add ribbons, bows, clips etc.
